· The Works Progress Administration (W.P.A.) began the construction of the gymnasium in July of 1936.
· The construction was to be completed in time for the beginning of school in the fall.
· The W.P.A., or the government, contributed $5,832 and the school district contributed $3,302 to the construction of the gym.
· The building was 100 feet long and 68 feet wide and was constructed of stabilized adobe brick.
· The gymnasium included a standard 48 by 84-foot basketball court and bleachers.
· The flooring was maple over concrete, and composition roofing covered the building.
· At the time, it was considered one of the best basketball courts in all of Arizona.
· The locker rooms were on the west side of the building and included both a boys’ and a girls’ locker rooms.
· The gymnasium was torn down when the campus was refurbished in 2003.
In 1934 the first yearbook was printed by Peoria High School. Perhaps this is why the entire Senior class only had one picture.
